Changes to Driving Licences

Checking Employee Driving Licences

If you have a requirement to check your employee driving license for convictions and endorsements you should be aware that the paper counterpart which housed this information has been abolished.

This means that in order to check for up to date information on your employee’s driving licence you need to view their records on DVLA’s online database where all information will be held in future.

In order to grant you access to this information your employee will need to go onto the DVLA website and create a licence check code which will enable them to share the information with you. The code only lasts for 72 hours so once the employee provides it to you it is important to check immediately or ask them to generate a new code.

If you have any questions, comments or experience of the new system in practice then please leave a comment below or email [email protected]
